My earliest pictures of the Smedley family in Ashby de la Zouch are of Mary Cheatle William Smedley's (born 1797) wife and her sister Fanny. I would like to know who the parents of Mary Cheatle were.  All I know is that Mary Cheatle was born in Ashby de la Zouch about 1800. I know nothing about her sister Fanny. The first picture is of Mary and the second is of Fanny. The following pictures give information of the back of the photographs.

The pictures below are of Henry (Harry) Smedley (born 1841) the youngest son of William Smedley.

The first two photographs below are of  the wife of Harry Smedley above  Selina Anne (Annie) Mason born (1840) .  The third photograph is of Joseph Smedley (born 1839)  a brother of Harry. The forth picture  is of Joshua Henry  Smedley with his car (standing) and his brother George Edward Smedley  (sitting).  The photo would have taken been in the late 1940's. Both of them are sons of Samuel Young Smedley (born 1833)  from his marriage to Sarah Devenish.

Below are pictures of Harry Smedley with his family. In the first picture from left to right at the back: William, Samuel, Louisa, Hector, Nancy and Ernest. At the front are: Edith, Harry and Selina (Annie). The first picture below is of Hector Smedley (born 1877). The second picture is of earnest Smedley with his wife Elizabeth. The third picture is of Harry's daughters Nancy, Edith and Louisa. The third picture shows Annie (Nancy) Smedley (born 1870) at her marriage to Jabez Bell at Calabar, Nigeria in 1891. The finals picture shows the first Wedding car in Ashby parked outside the Primitive Methodist Church in Ashby De la Zouch, in the car are William and Ernest Smedley.

The pictures below show hector in his football team and also a group photograph taken before WWI. The third picture was taken in the late 1950's when he was a foreman Bricklayer.
